Thanks for adding the details. I didn't know that he was so young when he came to you. He was definitely a special being.

I neglected to mention that Skittles was one-day old when his mother and entire clutch were killed by the coyote. He came to us at one-week of age. He lived in the house with us and slept under the covers with Sam to keep warm. We even bought him a chicken diaper at www.chickendiapers.com, made specifically to fit Skittles with his measurements. Skittles was extraordinarily special.

Well, this one made me cry, Simrat. I miss Skittles so much. We were just talking about him yesterday as previous renters did not know a neighbor clipped his wings in anger rendering Skittles incapable of flying and roosting high in the trees as he had finally graduated to. The story is tragic, knowing this precious soul lost his entire family to a coyote in broad daylight; a mama peacock will not leave her nest - no matter what. Skittles survived and immediately came here to live - in the house - with us. He slept with my oldest son as he was a birthday present from our friends, Larisa and Jeff. It was a unique situation as it is rare to have the chance to raise a peacock from so young an age (due to the mother's protective nature). Skittles was kind, gentle, and very social. He was only trying to get friendly with the neighbor's chicken, thinking he, too, was a chicken. This is a neighbor who we have helped time and time again - financially, taking in their animals, etc. The only way to describe his absence is tragic.

Skittles, I wish you would come back - as a peacock, a horse, a human - it wouldn't matter. Your soul is pure and loved by all. Please come home.

From what we can tell, he was killed by another animal, maybe a dog or coyote.
