Yes that was how it was for me with Asad and with Kindlewood. I see the same relationship slowly unfolding with me and Paisano. Now that he is done trying to test me to see where my holes are, he really does try to be a partner in things to the extent of what he understands of whats expected. Things like holding Theory firm by the neck that day when she was panicing making her settle down and turn and face me. Like being able to be turned lose with a strange SM gelding to play harmlessly together in strange surroundings. Being a gentleman about Pro's antics over the fence. Heck he could knock that fence down in a heart beat - not Pai! He stood for the first time without moving a foot the other day while I wiggled off of him onto the barrel (our first together dismount onto a mounting block) with this bad knee of mine. aligning right up to it and waiting paitently while I figured out how to get weight back on my leg. This was the day he was panicing over food, yet he waited for me. Developing that trust partnership takes years, I'm thankful that Paisano is willing to throw himself into it so early in our relationship together. I cant wait to see where this goes in a few more years. Pro in the other hand... hmmm... I'm thinking 8 or 9 years if he kept a stallion (he has the bad boy personality). If I geld him by the time he is 5, he'll come around by the time he is 8ish. Pretty much like his mom. She stood by me for quite a while, as I stood on the overturned feed tub and leaned all over her trying to get the right angle. She was really aware of what I was doing, but totally calm. The first shot is gorgeous. I also love that while I was in the upper meadow playing Burning Woman, preparing the space for the new roundpen, you were taking the shots atop Lily sans halter, lead rope, neck rope, or anything. I am still amazed that you could do this so safely and enjoyably with Lola Mae, Gary Luther, and Sister Abigail in the pasture with you. You and Lily are amazing.
