Who knew a horse can have so many shades in their back and mane. Being a little shy of big animals, I’ve not been so close. Thanks for giving me access to the colors and textures of these lovely animals.

Wonderful has ranch brands. I can only imagine all her previous owners and what they did with her. Did she round up cattle in MT or WY? Did she work in a feed lot or rodeo? I bet that she gave rides to the kids and grandkids too. And maybe she had times on and off, of neglect in her life. We certainly know that she did more recently, since she ended up at a feed lot. Someone just saw her a a spent old horse with nothing left to give.

I am glad to know her and her quiet wisdom, so very happy that she has had this last chance to be appreciated.

The first photo shows Wonderful’s swirl, like Lily’s! And the second is so interesting, revealing Wonderful’s muscular landscape. (Does she actually still have muscles?) Marea confirmed that this mare is not a day under 40 and that the lordosis in her back (third photo) most likely is not painful. She is amazing … and still with us. Thank you, Simrat, for sharing her beauty and grace. Thank you, Wonderful, for telling us it was not your time, even though you are very tired. You can rest all you want, and Simrat will be there to document your beauty.
