It’s eventual function will be as a media center for the household. We will be able to store all our images, video and music on the terabyte hard drive, watch TV and movies and listen to music through my amplifier, all controlled through wireless keyboard and mouse. For now, it has Linux installed, as the Windows CD came too scratched to use. We supplied the funds and he did the research, sourced all the components and constructed it. How cool is that?

… Hargobind Singh Atwal was born. I am grateful that such a wonderful soul joined our family those years ago. And that he has grown into a fine, young man.

Only two weeks until I head up the hill to do the last set up for the SMR meeting. I am very thankful for all the work that Amy Jo and Sally have put in so far to get ready for it. The long house now has a lovely metal roof, in case it rains during the business meeting. And we will have a round pen for demos and working horses. I have to say that it is a little hard to concentrate on much else. I’m really looking forward to meeting people that I’ve met online. Putting faces to names and friendships already started. And, of course, spending time with those I know and have not seen for a year or more.
I am grateful for the sun shining down through the maples in my front yard. They remind me of my childhood home in the Catskills. My truck bed ended up filled with the little fluttery seed wings. It was so much fun to see the piles of them as I swept them out. I love the small moments like this that bring small joys that grow to large ones.
And… one reason that I am late to post my Thankful Thursday … Paisano has another son! Mare (Dove Tree’s Marcha de la Luna) and baby are healthy and doing well. Photos are from his owner, Patty Vandiver in Sisters. Now we are just waiting on Lily in about a month or so.
I think that he may end up black, but won't know for a while.
It looks like has has 4 stockings and might have appy traits too.

Gratitude creates it’s own attitude. It can give you a new perspective, a new focus. I am going to use this day as my opportunity to see those things.
It’s proving to be one of those ‘chew you up and spit you out’ weeks for me. Too much to do, not enough time to sleep and I feel more like hibernating and not talking to anyone than posting on my blog, but I don’t want to miss a week on this meme, so here goes…
I feel lucky that I have artifacts of my family’s past; my great aunt’s oriental carpet, a painting of Gaurdian Mountain, where I grew up… I can sit in my great grandmother’s chair and at my grandmother’s desk. Though, in the last year as he has aged, my dog, Shadow, claims the chair as his nightly sleeping spot. I know that these are ultimately only things, but they do give me a sense of connectedness. They are not just old things, but things that people (some of whom I never met), who carried my genes, used in their daily lives. There is a continuity there that gives me peace.
I appreciate that we have a cozy home. Even though there is not enough space to store all the stuff that we seem to accumulate and it’s often disorganized and cluttered, it is still home. The people I love are here, along with reminders of those past, in the form of all those things, furniture, books, photographs, the accumulation of generations.
