  1. Great macro post.
    Both shots are beautiful.
I like the silhouettes and the colors on the foliage.

  2. Such beautiful shots … nothing prettier than what nature give us.

  3. The leaves are lovely…but I LOVE the rust. ;-)

  4. Simrat, I MUST have a copy of the patina shot. Pink and orange in combination make me giddy! Is that an old truck? That would just seal the deal. That photo is unbelievably beautiful. And the geranium is gorgeous. I cannot wait for your art to be shared far and wide with the world and to begin paying your bills. With that kind of freedom, you will be able to share so much more with all of us. You have such a gift that you need to give! I want you to receive all the gifts in return that you should be receiving as a result of your amazing artwork!

After the SMR meeting, let’s create a studio space of the longhouse – art for you and massage for Laura. We could have events here and hold silent auctions for your work …

  5. I believe that it was a tractor. :) This junkyard is actually a collection that has been amassed over years. My aunt lives nearby and it’s owned by her landlord. I’ll have to make up an album on my photo site http://www.simratkhalsa.com/ with more photos from that shoot. Then we can get you a print, AJ. :)

  6. Unbelievable vision and talent, Simrat. Your work is simply amazing. You need your own gallery. And everyone should visit your exposuremanager site: http://simrat.exposuremanager.com/g/maingallery.

Sam still adores his Skittles the Peacock coffee cup and mouse pad, especially in the precious bird’s absence.

  7. You make me blush. ;) Thanks!

Well, Skittles will be my subject next week. Lots of material there. I only wish that I had been able to do photos when he was a little more mature. Still, I loved the blending of bright and quiet colored plumage.

  8. Simrat I too must have copies of both of those photos. As big as you can make them. They both would go beautifully with my Poppy Painting. In fact, I think you should do a Simrat version painting of each!!!

Gonna go back to your NM gallery and see what my prints will cost me.

  9. The geranium images were added to the Nature gallery. They didn’t quite fit the the NM Patinas, even though they were taken on the same trip. That was at the Oasis coffee shop in EspaƱola. :)

  10. Where were Susan and I when you made this trip? Man, I need to get out more. I am very happy to live vicariously through your eyes though, Simrat, and enjoy the world through you. Thank you for sharing your beauty with us all.

I’m heading to the gallery also, Susan. I would like to take old windows, attach them to the ceiling of the Cowboy Cabin kitchen, and “frame” Simrat’s prints in those. Wouldn’t that be cool? The Cowboy Cabin is Simrat’s, you know …

  11. That was last June to go see Gurunam’s HS graduation and then on to TX for the SMR meeting. It was a whirlwind trip all in one weekend!

  12. Amy Jo, I think we should hyjack Simrat for a girls trip sometime… What do you think? Maybe to some far off place with wild horses, wild flowers, and wild honey.

Or maybe you guys should all join me on that 40 day, 800 mile horse ride along the Arizona Trail? It would be , dust, sweat, smoke and hazey mornings watching the sun rise while camps are broke for the days ride. Following sunrays across the cactus, or through the Pinon’s upon the craggy tops of sun burnt rocks!

Who would want to miss that?

    ;) S

  13. Not me! What a wild, fantastically wonderful plan! Forty days you say? That is an excellent and very yogic number. What are the dates??

  14. Count me in! I cannot even imagine such an incredible journey. Simrat, can you even imagine Sir Lawrence (now named Sometimes) moving forward for that many miles? I guess he could back most of the way …

Arizona is a dream of mine, as is New Mexico. When is this trip, and what is the cost? My curiosity is peaked.

Simrat, does Susan know that we are trying to kidnap her for the SMR meeting this year? I honestly think we could start a railroad of rides to get her here, just like we do to get the rescue horses home sometimes. We need to see how far we can get Susan on an airplane and then go and get her. Maybe we could incorporate going to my dad’s ranch to pick up the ATV’s with picking up Susan? Idaho … Arizona … We could make it work! We just cannot leave Lady Lily for too long.

  15. your talent is astonishing.
the macro view is so, well, VITAL to the mindful person. it’s the one most people focus so hard on they barely see it for what it is, for how beautiful it is.
thank you for introducing me to this wonderful concept of macro monday. wish I were a photographer so I could contribute.
I’ll settle for ogling your work with reverence.

  16. great post!
    is that your pug?
    I have one, too!

  17. Which pug? I have a Schipperke. ;)

Glad that you liked the photos. I’ve always enjoyed macro images. It’s so fun to see what the details bring out.

  18. Amy Jo, I planned on finding out more on a flight pass this last Monday but my pilot client was busy piloting a plane, so as soon as I see him I’ll ask how close I can get with a flight pass.

And as for the ride Amy Jo, the more the merrier. I have already suggested to the folks that I could have one more rider with me, so I will write them again and let them know that number could be at least two. I am going to encourage Gabriele from Colorado to come along too. Once I have an estimate on cost (it is still in the planning stages), we can then start looking for promotions, or what have you to help us financially.

    ;) S

  19. Re: pug. I don’t know how my comment ended up here, because I meant it to go with your post, “Start of a New Phase.” Someone is holding a pug.
    I like Schipperkes, too!

  20. wonderful junkyard patina! Really it takes an artist to see that it is indeed arty.
